    MEDITATION AND SPIRITUALITY

                                                                                                   A BLOG FOR PEACE

We are blessed with such a wondrous Treasure
within each and everyone of us.
A depth of happiness bliss and joy that is waiting
    to be discovered.
We meditate not to just to relax and let go of our stress
    but to experience
the very depth of our consciousness
which is the essence of our being

The World as we see it
in all of it's various forms
is usually all we see in life.
We use our senses to look outside of our selves
and experience a world of forms and objects,
    and of divisions and separations,
that become our attachments, our world and our way of life.

In meditation we bring our awareness to within our Self.
Instead of looking out, we look within

Meditation is our door, our direct access to the Truth within us.
The only thing that separates us from being aware of that glorious Truth
    is our thoughts.
Our attachment to our thoughts keep them engaged
and we never get beyond them.
Through meditation, we can let go of our thoughts
    and get beyond them,
they can dissolve and return to where they came from.
When our mind is still and free of thought
we can experience the light of that Truth within our Self.

A good basic everyday all of the time meditation
is to be aware of your breath
it is always with you and when focused on
it will keep you centered and will slow down your thoughts.
Wherever you go and whatever you do you can be aware of your breath.
As a sit down meditation, it is also perfect
and is part of a deeper meditation on the light and sound within. (Discussed later)

There are times when the mind is like the monkey mind.
Rampant with thought, and chasing every and any thought
    so for these times,
within the breath there is a mantra.
"SO" as the breath comes in and "HAM" (Hom) as the breath goes out.
    true... it is a thought
but a good thought meaning "I Am That"
...engage the mantra and the monkey thoughts are replaced with the mantra
when Silence has been reached, drop the mantra
and be in the rhythm  of your breath and at peace.

    Peace
    A very simple word
but not found in the usual places
And with all of the turmoil in the world,
it is sometimes hard to envision and feel peace

But Peace is something we all need, the whole world needs.
The peace is there, it always has been
it is just we have wandered away from it.

    Happiness
We look for it in all of the wrong places.
We hold onto something and we are happy
and then when it is gone, we lose our happiness and are sad.

But such a deep feeling of happiness and joy and bliss
that never disappears is hardly ever seen.
and Happiness is something we all need on a very deep level.

Happiness and Peace and joy and bliss
    on a very deep level
    are within us
    Always have been
We have just wandered away from it

    The truth of existence
    is within us
    Always has been...
...But the world has a very strong pull, that keeps us locked
into it with our attachments, and gives us a false sense of understanding
of what is real and what is illusion,
so we never experience the Truth of our existence,
and understand our reason for being here.

Meditation is the doorway to the essence of our being,
the light of our Truth, our absolute reality.
    our access point
where we can have a direct experience
    of the oneness within

Love is not a story. Love is such a thing it can enable you to communicate with anything in the world.
It is the most perfect communication.

My purpose for this blog is simply just to share with you
what I have experienced and understand to be true.
I don't think I would have ever figured it out without my spiritual teachers.
because I was so dense and full of ego.
The ego and our attachments are so strong, and constantly leading us astray
that we need a special juju to see through the brick wall
we have created with our thoughts.

All of my Masters, Gurus, and Spiritual teachers
Have taken me to the same place
to the abode of light within.
Beyond the ego, beyond the thoughts.

Meditation is a pure vessel that will lead you to the Truth,
to the oneness of our being.

So now I must give respect to all of my teachers
for without them i would have been forever lost.

    Neem Karoli Baba

    Stories and Quotes
    from "My Great Baba"
    .....

"(Daku Baba) was learning from Brahmananda Saraswati. Brahmananda Saraswati told him to go to Baba Neem Karoli. Daku Baba tried to meet NKB for 4 months, he went to several cities but he got reply "Neem Karoli Baba was here but he has just left. One day in such tired and distressed condition Daku Baba went to see a movie in Odeon cinema in Lucknow, one man came and patted him at back and asked him are you Swami Maheshwaranand? Baba NKB is calling you (NKB wanted to teach him that disciple can not find the Guru, Guru will find disciple who is ready)."

"When you remember me I come to you"
    --------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------
A story I remember from Ram Das:
    One night around the fire
NKB was sitting with some of his Devotees
and a Sadhu all dressed in fine robes of a Sannyasin stops by to pay his respects to NKB.
He offers a few hundred Rupees to NKB and NKB threw the money
into the fire. As the money was burning, the Sadhu starts berating NKB
for throwing the money into the fire, yelling how valuable was the money
and how could he throw it into the fire.
NKB reached into the fire and pulled out the money
    all intact
and returned it to the Sadhu, chastising him for not knowing anything.
    And then kicked him out.

    The Sayings of Guru Maharaji

    Maharaji (Prem Rawat) says...
Any man can be identified by three qualities, and these are that his body is space, his mind is time, and his soul is infinite energy.
So he can be divided, he can be analysed, into three parts. His body lives in space, his mind lives in time, and his soul lives in infinite energy, in the infinite Self. So by meditation you will be able to cross the limits of space and time which all human beings exist in, and once you do that you will be able to find out who you really are, and that is the energy by which you are sustained. This energy is yourself.

Meditation means concentrating one's mind into that supreme Knowledge.

The mind keeps the secret that you are something divine away from you.

We just have to concentrate and everything happens automatically.

Meditation is the fuel. If you run out of it -- no chance -- you won't even go a mile.

There is darkness in this world and there is light and it is completely up to you which one you want to pick.

You must meditate for yourself, don't meditate for me. You should get high, not me, I am high enough. I am in the infinite state. So meditate for yourself.

The main thing is that whatever life you are leading, you must do meditation with it. If you have a family life, lead a family life. If you are a businessman, lead a business life, but do meditation with it and that is what is going to make you a perfect devotee.

All I can say is meditate, meditate and meditate. You will realise something. Something that I have realised. And you will see it, and you will feel it, and you will realise it.

When you are growing in meditation -- you don't want to jump. You want to feel the every inch, the every centimetre, the every millimetre of that growth you are growing in because it's just really beautiful, just really beautiful.

    .....

Jesus did not preach Christianity. Krishna did not preach Hinduism. Rama did not preach Hinduism. They preached the True Knowledge of Self, they gave self-realisation to their devotees.

    Meher Baba

To lead men and women to the heights of Realisation, we must help them to overcome fear and greed, anger and passion. These are the result of looking upon the self as a limited, separate physical entity, having a definite physical beginning and a definite physical end, with interests apart from the rest of life, and needing preservation and protection.

The self in fact is a limitless, indivisible spiritual essence, eternal in its nature and infinite in its resources. The greatest romance possible in life is to discover this eternal reality in the midst of infinite change.

Once one has experienced this, one sees oneself in everything that lives, one recognises all of life as his life, everybody’s interests as his own. The fear of death, the desire for self-preservation, the urge to accumulate substance, the conflict of interests, the anger of thwarted desires, are gone. One is no longer bound by the habits of the past, no longer swayed by the hopes of the future. One lives in and enjoys each present moment to the full.

There is no greater romance in life than this adventure in Realisation.

    .....

There are many who have delusions of having realised God. After reading Vedanta and Sufi literature, many genuinely believe that they have attained the state of Aham Brahmasmi or Anal Haq, the I-am-God state.

Nevertheless, such delusions are far better and more tolerable than the established assumptions of mankind that this world and its affairs are everlasting and real.

What I say is that it is far better to be led into believing that ‘I am not other than Paramatma’ than to get established in believing that ‘I am only a speck of dust, I am a sinner, and I am weak.’

    1 November 1932,
    LM5 p1735

    .....

The realisation of the Supreme Being (Paramatma) as our own self is the realisation of Truth. The universe is the outcome of imagination. Then why try to get a superficial knowledge of the imaginative universe, rather than acquire the knowledge of self (Truth)?

What is knowledge? Knowledge means the experience of Paramatma (Dnyan) – the knowledge of the highest that our soul, which is everlasting, gets of the Supreme Being, i.e., Self-realisation.

What is the universal understanding? It is called Vishva Dnyan, or the knowledge of the universe with which one comes down after realisation of Paramatma (Dnyan), i.e. knowledge of God and the Nirvikalpa state. That is to say, knowledge equals experience plus universal understanding, or perfect knowledge of that experience. Meaning again that he who acquires knowledge must necessarily acquire experience, and then again, he must have a perfect knowledge of that experience. Otherwise, those who acquire experience and remain in that Nirvikalpa state (the state of Ananta Ananda or everlasting bliss) are called Majzoobs. Although they are all-knowing and perfect in every way, they are unable to do anything for, or give salvation to, the world.

In short, the experience of the state of the Supreme Being (God) is the real state.

Now let us see what this experience is that one gets before acquiring the real knowledge.

The Sadgurus or Realised ones take those to whom they are to give this experience through the seven planes absolutely in the dark – either with bandages around their eyes, or with their eyes closed. That is, those to whom the Sadguru gives the experience have no knowledge of these seven planes. They are quite ignorant of that knowledge, though they have already crossed all these seven planes.

It is for this reason that when the candidate for this experience is let off by the Sadguru just below the seventh plane, his state is unimaginable and indescribable. It is as if an unexpected current of millions of candlepower of electric light enters or dissolves his Subtle body. He is amazed and stupefied at this new experience.

Then, before he can properly think of his new, unimaginably wonderful experience, he suddenly acquires the Nirvikalpa state, where he himself becomes one with the Ananta Ananda or eternal bliss.

But it is useless to realise all this without personal experience. One may listen to years of explanations, or read volume after volume, but one would not get even a glimpse of an idea – a shadow of a shadow – of the real experience, without experiencing it personally.

Such a perfect state is attained by one out of millions, and that too, only by the grace of a Sadguru. To talk about this knowledge and experience without acquiring it – to realise it only through philosophy or the superficial knowledge of religion – is utter folly – humbug, pure and simple.

    Paramahansa Yogananda

    When in India long ago,
I came down with Jaundice and Hepatitis
    from drinking the water etc
and ended up in one of Yoganandas Hospitals.
Flat on my back for two weeks, they took care of me,
While giving me all of His writings to read.
    .....

    “Self-realization is the knowing in all parts of body, mind, and soul that you are now in possession of the kingdom of God;
    that you do not have to pray that it come to you; that God’s omnipresence is your omnipresence;
and that all that you need to do is improve your knowing.”
    ― Paramahansa Yogananda

    Krishnamurti

At the Edge of All Thought
Has it ever happened to you -I am sure it has-that you suddenly perceive something, and in that moment of perception you have no problems at all? The very moment you have perceived the problem, the problem has completely ceased. Do you understand, sirs? You have a problem, and you think about it, argue with it, worry over it; you exercise every means within the limits of your thought to understand it. Finally you say, I can do no more.' There is nobody to help you to understand, no guru, no book. You are left with the problem, and there is no way out. Having inquired into the problem to the full extent of your capacity, you leave it alone. Your mind is no longer worried, no longer tearing at the problem, no longer saying, 'I must find an answer'; so it becomes quiet, does it not? And in that quietness you find the answer. Hasn't that sometimes happened to you? It is not an enormous thing. It happens to great mathematicians, scientists, and people experience it occasionally in everyday life. Which means what? The mind has exercised fully its capacity to think, and has come to the edge of all thought without having found an answer; therefore it becomes quiet not through weariness, not through fatigue, not by saying, 'I will be quiet and thereby find the answer.' Having already done everything possible to find the answer, the mind becomes spontaneously quiet. There is an awareness without choice, without any demand, an awareness in which there is no anxiety; and in that state of mind there is perception. It is this perception alone that will resolve all our problems.

    for Meditation,
the greatest book i have ever read?
    "Play of Consciousness"
    by Swami Muktananda

    It is his Spiritual Autobiography
    written just for his devotees
but it is available in paperback.
    ......
A comment about "Play of Consciousness"
    By Guru Chidvilasananda
    Swami Muktananda was her Guru.

"The sages attempted to explain the supreme Truth
in countless words that fill volumes. Nevertheless,
they always kept the key to the direct experience of that Truth a secret between
the Guru and the disciple. For this reason, even though you may read the scriptures
again and again, you can never grasp from them the actual experience of the Truth.
They Repeat, "For that you need a Guru".
The extraordinary feature of Play of Consciousness, as many people have discovered,
is that it can actually give the direct experience not only to one who reads it
but often to one who merely glances at it or touches it."

His thing was meditation and He takes us along with him.
He is taken on a journey by Shakti Herself
in a chariot within the blue pearl
to journey where many people go after they cross over.
    it's in enlightening detail.
I have read it five times.

    Sounds incrediblle?
    Just to much to comprehend?
Have I told you consciousness was deep?
    Consciousness is very deep.

    Jesus?
    .....

    Become still
    yeah right, we think incessantly,
we hold onto everything we have and want more,
we are on an nonstop emotional roller coaster of desire
    and when finally sleep comes
we move onto the astral plane to continue the dream.
then If we finally reach deep sleep
    we can finally rest.
    such is life.

    Over time everything becomes set
and we continually wander away from any opportunity
to grasp a look at our inner light

That's why there have always been Spiritual Masters in the east,
that have taught meditation as a direct connection
to that light of consciousness within.
    even Jesus made an appearance
upon the Earth to say that
"if thine eye be single" (our third eye)
"thy whole body shall be full of light"
and "The Truth shall set you free"

    In deep meditation
when we focus our awareness, our concentration
    within the Ajna Chakra
    (our Third eye)
    we have Divine TV....

    Sitting comfortably back straight
focused on the breath, silence has been reached, and
with eyes closed one can look within to just behind
the center of the eyebrows inside the head.
we look up into the 6th chakra
and the two eyes cross and become one. (Our third eye)
A focal point for a gathering of the light
and the doorway to higher levels of consciousness.

Easy huh? not so for some.
remember the mind does not want to become silent.
It does not want to become still
so there can be a transcendence of awareness.
It wants to be active. and think and plot and
chase desires and think some more.
...So at first it will take a little bit
of patience and practice before anything will appear
    focus, concentrate and perseverance
    will reward you.

So you can see how our attachments and our monkey mind
of thoughts would keep one from
    getting anywhere in meditation
    and reaching silence.
we would sit for meditation and immediately wander off
to do something else, in our mind.
or "I tried it but it didn't work"

It takes a pure heart to reach deep within.
    It takes dedication and concentration
    to silence the mind
and a big letting go of all the distractions, attachments, thoughts, desires...

...So what are we looking for? Nothing
    Searching for? Nothing
    Hunting for enlightenment? Nope

    in meditation
    When we completely let go
have devotion and a righteous heart
be in the right place with the right attitude
We can be one with Christ Consciousness
    (Shiva Loka)
    the essence of your being,
    the light of your Soul,
    your real Self.

    Meditation is yours
not a part of any organization, any dogma,
    any religion, totally free
    no donations needed
    no contracts to sign.

It's good to know the truth
    of who you are,
    makes one complete
and it shows us our reason for being here.

    Union with God.
or you could say, Being One with the Oneness

    Some words from
    Shri Ramana Marharshi

We are not human beings having a soul experience, we are souls having a human experience. We will keep coming back over and over until all thought of ego is erased.

You don't reincarnate INTO anything. You evolve or devolve depending on what your past experiences have been. If I am a good person, I can draw on that next time. If I am a bad person, I can expect to have to pay for that next time.

Of course, that is so simplistic as to be a really bad example, but the idea is correct. This is a huge subject that usually causes someone to ask a lot of questions. So, this is just the tip of the iceberg of the Reincarnation idea.

Question: Can a yogi know his past lives?

Maharshi: Do you know the present life that you wish to know the past? Find the present, then the rest will follow. Even with our present limited knowledge, you suffer so much. Why should you burden yourself with more knowledge? Is it to suffer more?

When seen through the sight of the supreme space of Self, the illusion of taking birth in this mirage-like false world is found to be nothing but the egotistical ignorance of identifying a body as "I". Among those whose minds are possessed with forgetfulness of Self, those who are born will die and those who die will be born again. But know that those whose minds are dead, having known the glorious Supreme Reality, will remain only there in that elevated state of reality, devoid of both birth and death. Forgetting Self, mistaking the body for Self, taking innumerable births, and at last knowing Self and being Self is just like waking from a dream of wandering all over the world.

Question: How long does it take a man to be reborn after death? Is it immediately after death or some time later?

Maharshi: You do not know what you were before birth, yet you want to know what you will be after death. Do you know what you are now?

Birth and rebirth pertain to the body. You are identifying the Self with the body. It is a wrong identification. You believe that the body has been born and will die, and confound the phenomena relating to the body with the Self. Know your real being and these questions will not arise.

Births and rebirths are mentioned only to make you investigate the question and find out that there are neither births nor rebirths. They relate to the body and not to the Self. Know the Self and don’t be perturbed by doubts.

Question: Do not one’s actions affect the person in later births?

Maharshi: Are you born now? Why do you think of other births? The fact is that there is neither birth nor death. Let him who is born think of death and palliatives for it.

Question: What happens to a person after death?

Maharshi: Engage yourself in the living present. The future will take care of itself. Do not worry about the future. The state before creation and the process of creation are dealt with in the scriptures in order that you may know the present. Because you say you are born, therefore they say, yes, and add that God created you.

But do you see God or anything else in your sleep? If God is real, why does he not shine forth in your sleep also? You always are, you are the same now as you were in sleep. You are not different from that one in sleep. But why should there be differences in the feelings or experiences of the two states?

Did you ask, while asleep, questions regarding your birth? Did you then ask ‘Where do I go after death?’ Why think of all these questions now in the waking state? Let what is born think of its birth and the remedy, its cause and ultimate results.

Question: What becomes of the Jiva (Individual soul) after death?

Maharshi: The question is not appropriate for a Jiva now living. A dead Jiva may ask me, if he wishes to. In the meantime let the embodied Jiva solve its present problem and find who he is. Then there will be an end to such doubts.

Question: Is the Buddhist view, that there is no continuous entity answering to the ideas of the individual soul, correct or not? Is this consistent with the Hindu notion of a reincarnating ego? Is the soul a continuous entity which reincarnates again and again, according to the Hindu doctrine, or is it a mere mass of mental tendencies- samskaras?

Maharshi: The real Self is continuous and unaffected. The reincarnating ego belongs to the lower plane, namely, thought. It is transcended by Self-realisation.

Reincarnations are due to a spurious offshoot. Therefore they are denied by the Buddhists. The present state of ignorance is due to the identification of consciousness (chit) with the insentient (jada) body.

    Oh you Yogis of Meditation
    that possess the experience of
    such a treasured knowledge,
    you... are the fortunate ones.
    Through your touch
    the illusion falls away.

    Sounds of Silence

Sweet are  the sounds of the birds in the trees in the morning,
as the sun rises and the day begins,
"It's a good day to live and hear my joy" they sing.

Similarly there is such a sweet harmony and the joy of a new day
in the sound within your meditation.
There are many descriptions written of the different sounds
that there are to hear when you listen within.

Sitting with back straight relaxing into yourself
    relaxing into your breath
    eyes closed
    place your concentration
exactly in the middle of your two ears
in the middle of your head and listen....
    ...
    ...
and since your eyes are right there
you might notice different light colors moving around
like a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns
which is your opportunity to center in
    within the movement of lights
    in your wisdom eye
    concentration at one point
    unfolding and opening up
    will consciousness be
    if your egoless pursuit
    is continuously.

What I am sharing with you
    is basic stuff
    basic but Powerful

There is a whole different world inside.
We think that the world is hot with all of the goodies in it
but all of these things will not get you as high as to
be in a place of no ego interfering with your bliss.
You think I am kidding? This whole world that you see
will fit into a little corner of an inside world and hardly be noticed.
Life is Deep, and what we see in this physical world,
is just the surface of consciousness.

On the other side of the Ego is
    your Truth your Treasure,
your deep happiness that touches your heart and your Soul,
    and the direct experience
    of your real Self

    Meditation is your Key.

    Kechari Mudra
    the  tasting  of Nectar

If you have read the Christian Bible
where Jesus is at the well with the woman?
He talks about the well of water within her
from which she would never thirst again.

That river of nectar is within you
a technique where you fold your tongue back gently
and literally push it up into your throat.
There is the elixir of life
    Nectar of vitality and longevity.
    There, drops of nectar fall.
    Ones fountain of youth

This is not something you can do
straight away. It will take some dedication and practice
    with a heartfelt spiritual attitude.
There is a cord under the tongue
basically that needs to be stretched out
so the tongue can do this.
Do not force this to happen.
over time and practice it will go naturally.

It takes some practice before that cord will stretch out
it will, but not without some tender care.
Tearing the cord is not without pain
    so patience is the key.
Once your tongue can be folded back
and you feel the tip of your tongue at the throat
    you may taste nectar
    also
you can take your finger and push the tongue
into position if you want the it to stay in that position

    Once you have mastered this
if not used, the tongue will shrink back on that cord
and you will need to  stretch it out again.
    .....
    .....
When in India I met a Swami who spent his days tasting the Nectar.
He had actually cut the cord under the tongue,
so the tongue could stay up in the throat continuously.
Happy guy, blissed out...didn't do any talking.
All of his meals he would take in private
so no one could see him eating.
It must have been a chore for him.
Definitely would not advise doing this.

    Some words from Swami Muktananda

    "Meditate on your own Self
    Honor your Self
    Worship your Self
    Understand your Self
God dwells within you as you"

"Oh Siddha students, the universe is yours.
You are the Soul of the universe.
    The changes, permutations, and combinations
of the universe arise from you. They are yours.
As the soul of the universe, you are perfect.
Keep on remembering that the universe is your own grandeur.

just as  the ocean remains an ocean
even when it breaks into waves
    in the same way
As long as you are aware that the whole universe
is your own splendor, you will realize your Godhood
and remain in that realization despite your tendency
to see the universe as separate from yourself."

He who knows all this glory of manifestation as his own,
who realizes the entire cosmos in his Self, is divine,
even though thoughts may play in his mind.

    The Vendanta says

The Absolute is real, the World is unreal:
    This is the only truth.
without Knowledge of the absolute Self
there is no end to suffering.
He who knows the One in all attains peace.
The Absolute is the individual Soul.

Thought I would share some history with you.
You know of course Alice A Bailey and Blavatsky (the Secret Doctrine) Right?
Back with the Theosophical movement they were.

All of the books Bailey and Blavatsky wrote were telepathically
transmitted to them by the Ascended master Djwhal Khul the Tibetan.
    also known as Master DK

    Djwhal Khul the Tibetan

At that time he was the Abbot of a Tibetan monastery
in Tibet where he passed this information to Bailey and Blavatsky.
A prior incarnation of his was that of one of the three wise men
that brought gifts to the baby Jesus.
    He brought the gold.
    .....

Quotations from the Work of the Tibetan
(Djwhal Khul), through Alice A. Bailey

    The Rays & the Initiations
All moods, all display of sorrow, of pain, or of happy excitement, are due to our identification with objects of desire, with the form aspect and with that which is material. (5)

In the steady adherence to self-appointed rules comes the gradual refining of the instrument and the perfecting of the vehicles. (11)

True understanding is, I realise, not possible for you but much can be gained by your effort to comprehend. (304)

To be static, to have attained all that can be attained and to be at a complete standstill, would be utter death and, my brothers, there is no death. There is only progress from glory to glory, a moving forward from point to point on the divine Way and from revelation to revelation, towards those points and revelations which are perhaps part of the Goal of God Himself. (328)

Love and light are the great revealers and if the student truly seeks to understand and profit by what I am endeavouring to teach, let him love all men more deeply and let him see to it that his light shines forth in a dark place, for "in that light shall he see Light." (329)

The goal of all endeavour upon our planet, is right relations between man and man and between man and God, between all expressions of divine life, from the tiniest atom up and on into infinity. (737/8)

From stage to stage, from crisis to crisis, from point to point and from centre to centre, the life of God progresses, leaving greater beauty behind it as it moves through one form after another and from kingdom to kingdom... The manifestations of the Kingdom of God on Earth, the preparing of the way for its great Inaugurator, the Christ, the making possible the externalisation of the Hierarchy upon Earth, give us each and all a fully adequate task and something for which to live and work, to dream and aspire. (738)

May light and love and power shine upon your ways and may you in due time and with as little delay as possible, stand before the Initiator and join the ranks of Those Who - actively and consciously - love Their fellow men, work as reconstructive and regenerative Energies and forever - SERVE. (738)

    THE REAPPEARANCE OF THE CHRIST

Ever down the ages and at every great human crisis, always in the hours of necessity, at the founding of a new race, or in the awakening of a prepared humanity to a new and wider vision, the Heart of God - impelled by the Law of Compassion - sends forth a Teacher...a Christ. (9/10)

(The Christ's) reappearance will knit and bind together all men and women of goodwill throughout the world, irrespective of religion or nationality. (21)

It is to the whole world that Christ comes and not just to the Christian world. He comes to the East and to the West. (100)

He will come unfailingly when a measure of peace has been restored, when the principle of sharing is at least in process of controlling economic affairs, and when churches and political groups have begun to clean house. Then He can and will come; then the Kingdom of God will be publicly recognised, and will no longer be a thing of dreams and of wishful thinking and orthodox hope. (163)

Nothing under heaven can arrest the progress of the human soul on its long pilgrimage from darkness to light, from the unreal to the real, from death to immortality and from ignorance to wisdom... Nothing can keep the spirit of man from God. (159)

All spiritually inclined men and women, all who seek and work for the establishing of right human relations, all who practise goodwill and truly endeavour to love their fellow men, are an integral part of the New Group of World Servers and their major task at this time is to prepare the way for the reappearance of the Christ. (186)
    .....

    THE DESTINY OF NATIONS

Once an idea becomes ideal, humanity can freely reject or accept it but ideas come from a higher source and are imposed upon the racial mind, whether men want them or not. (8)

Only a few, here and there, really grasp the vision of the future and realise what is going on, seeing truly the beauty of the emerging Plan. (20)

All formulated theologies are the lower expression of the higher spiritual truths, because they embody the mind reactions of the religious man, his confidence in his own personal mind deductions and the surety that he is obviously right. (39)

The little conclusions of the little minds are some of the most dangerous factors today in world affairs. (41)

The world is one world, and its sufferings are one; humanity is in truth a unity, but many are still unaware of this, and the whole trend of the present teaching is directed to the awakening of humanity to this, while there is yet time to avert still more serious conditions. The sins of humanity are also one. Its goal is one, and it is as one great human family that we must emerge into the future. I would emphasise this thought: It is as one humanity, chastened, disciplined but illumined and fused, that we must emerge into the future. Those who do not grasp this important fact, whether they are called belligerents or neutrals, will suffer deeply as a result of their non-participation in the fate of the whole....The Hierarchy is not neutral. It is one with the right element in every nation, and set against all separative, isolationist and materialistic attitudes. Such attitudes prevent the apprehension of the true spiritual values, and hinder human development. Identification with all, and participation in world conditions -- voluntarily and not from force -- is the way out today for all peoples. Ponder on this. (65)

There is no power on earth which can prevent the advance of man towards his destined goal and no combination of powers can hold him back. (106)

The unintelligent work upon the physical plane ... has led to a world which is suffering from cleavage in as true a sense as an individual person can suffer from a "split personality." The lines of demarcation between science and religion are a striking instance of this and have been clearly and forcefully drawn... When a form and an activity is what you call evil, it is only so because the motivating energy behind the form and responsible for the activity is wrongly oriented, selfishly impulsed and incorrectly used. (127)

    ESOTERIC PSYCHOLOGY - VOL. I

Sincerity is the first thing for which those of us who teach, inevitably look. (xvii)

Students need to remember that they themselves evoke and call forth the teaching they receive. (110)

You will grow and your soul will take increasing hold upon its instrument, when your mind and effort are turned towards group service and when your tongue is rendered harmless, through the inflow of Love. (111)

Psychology has shown that in the consciousness of every human being is a sense of duality, that man is in some mysterious sense two beings and that it is the warfare between these two which has led to all the neuroses and complexes. (119)

I care not where or to whom you give, only that you give - little if you have but little of time or money, much if you have much. Work and give, love and think and aid those groups who are building and not destroying, loving and not attacking, lifting and not tearing down. (189)

Few people can evolve from within themselves the thoughts and ideas which should lead them on in the realisation of truth; and those of us therefore who are responsible for the teaching of the race, must perforce provide that which is required. (232)

Standards are shifting things and change with man's growth towards divinity. They vary also according to man's destiny as it is affected by his time and age, his nature and surroundings. They alter also according to the point of evolutionary development. (284)

Man stands midway between heaven and earth, with his feet deep in the mud of material life and his head in heaven. In the majority of cases his eyes are closed, and he sees not the beauty of the heavenly vision, or they are open but fixed upon the mud and slime with which his feet are covered. But when his open eyes are lifted for a brief moment, and see the world of reality and of spiritual values, then the torn and distracted life of the aspirant begins. (312)

Men are always searching for the novel and the unusual, forgetting that every new truth and every new representation of an old truth, carries with it the onus of increased responsibility. (315)

    ESOTERIC PSYCHOLOGY - VOL. II

The basic truths of today may be seen later as simply aspects of still greater truths and when the greater truth is grasped, the significance and interpretation of its formerly important part is seen to be widely different to what was supposed. (20)

The lesson needs to be learned that death as the human consciousness understands it, pain and sorrow, loss and disaster, joy and distress, are only such because man, as yet, identifies himself with the life of the form and not with the life and consciousness of the soul. (94)

Pursue your own duty and task, shoulder your own responsibility and then leave your fellow disciples to do the same, free from the impact of your thought and criticism. The ways and means are many; the points of view vary with every personality. (107)

As the individual aspirants lose sight of self in service and as they arrive at the stage of indifference to personality claims and happenings, they learn to cherish a spirit of confidence, of joy and of love, deep and lasting, for each other; they learn to work together whole-heartedly for the helping of the world and the assistance of the Hierarchy. (117)

Service is a life demonstration. It is a soul urge and is...an evolutionary impetus of the soul...It is the outstanding characteristic of the soul, just as desire is the outstanding characteristic of the lower nature. (125)

It takes the soul itself to reveal to the poised and peaceful mind the next step to be taken in the work of the world evolution, through the impartation of ideas. Such is the Plan for humanity. (15-136)

There slowly arises in man a divine discontent: the savour of his life experience and enterprises begins to prove unsatisfactory. Another shift in consciousness takes place and he reaches out - at first unconsciously and later consciously -to the life and significance of a dimly sensed reality. (337)

Humanity is weary and tired of unwholesome ways of living, of the exploitation of the defenceless, of the growth of discontent and of the centralisation of power in wrong and selfish hands. (450)

The expansions ... need not be along the line of recognised religious effort ... there is no life activity, no vocational calling, no mental occupation and no condition which cannot provide the key to the unlocking of the door into the desired wider world, or serve to lead a man to the mountain top from which the wider horizon can be seen and the larger vision grasped. (466)

Guidance can come from a man's own soul, when through meditation, discipline and service, he has established contact...This, when clear and direct, is true divine guidance, coming from the inner divinity. (491/2)

It should be remembered that criticism is a virulent poison. It damages in every case eventually the one who criticises - owing to the fact of voiced direction - it hurts still more the one who is criticised. (617)

There are millions of these men of goodwill in the world; they have been increasing steadily in numbers as a result of the agony of the world war but, feeling isolated and alone, they have been impotent and futile. (645)

Human beings are innately kind when their minds are not distorted and their vision impaired by the false teaching of any selfish interest, political propaganda and racial or religious difficulties. (655)

It is only through constant reiteration that men learn and these things must be said again and again. (668)

We live in an era of extremes - of extreme riches and extreme poverty; of extreme ignorance and extreme learning; of extreme discontent and the extreme satisfaction of personal ambitions; of extreme selfishness and extreme self-sacrifice. (670)

Resist not evil but so organise and mobilise the good and so strengthen the hands of the workers on the side of righteousness and love, that evil will find less opportunity. (691)

    ESOTERIC ASTROLOGY

It is always confusing to the beginner who has not yet a developed and trained intuition, to reconcile the seeming discrepancies and apparent contradiction which appear in the teaching of the Ageless Wisdom...Interpretation and right understanding are based upon the stage of the development of the individual. (64/5)

My underlying motive is ever the same: to indicate the way of living process and to stimulate that divine curiosity and that sense of outgoing spiritual adventure and eager aspiration for progress which is latent in all disciples and which, when stimulated, will enable them to proceed more serenely and sanely upon the Path of Return. (202/3)

Shirk not these crises, hard and difficult though they may appear to be. Difficult they are. Forget not that the habit of confronting crises is a long-established one within the consciousness of humanity...(They) are only the points of examination as to strength, purpose, purity and motive and the intent of the soul. They evoke confidence when surmounted and produce greatly expanded vision. (477)

(Crises) foster compassion and understanding, for the pain and inner conflict they have engendered is never forgotten, for they draw upon the resources of the heart. They release the light of wisdom within the field of knowledge and the world is thereby enriched. (477)

The intuition is the ability to arrive at knowledge through the activity of some innate sense, apart from the reasoning or logical process. It comes into activity when the resources of the lower mind have been used, explored and exhausted. Then and then only, the true intuition begins to function. (516)

    ESOTERIC HEALING

It is impossible for me to convey to you the truth, because there exist neither the terminology nor an adequate groundwork of knowledge on your part. (12)

Bitterness, disgust, hatred and a sense of frustration can and do produce many of the prevalent toxic conditions and a state of general poisoning and ill health, from which many people habitually suffer. (92)

The goal of all development is integration - integration as a personality, integration with the soul, integration into the Hierarchy, integration with the Whole, until complete unity and identification has been achieved.(126)

If you will have patience and will be willing to learn by absorption more than by analysis, you will later discover that you know much - intuitively and discriminately. (308)

Above everything else in life, give to all who seek your aid the fullest measure of love, for love releases, love adjusts and interprets and love heals on all three planes. (353)

As regards those who have passed into the light, whom you want to help, follow them with your love, remembering that they are still the same people, minus the outer limiting shroud of the body...Go to them but seek not to bring them back to you. (365)

Let us not fear death, or that which lies beyond it. The wise disciple labours in the field of service but looks forward steadily to the dawn of the "clear cold light" into which he will some day enter and so close the chapter for a while upon the fever and the friction and the pain of earth exist- ence. (365)

My work and the work of all the teachers in this transition period, is to stimulate (students) and fertilise their minds with ideas... They must carry their own responsibility and fail or succeed in arriving at the truth through their own self-initiated effort. (368)

Death appears frequently to be so purposeless; that is because the intention of the soul is not known. (436)

The truth is that much of the divine expression, as any man can demonstrate at his particular point in evolution and at any given stage in his incarnated history. (567)

Man....no matter how low his position on the ladder of evolution, is conscious ever of the unattainable; he is constantly aware of an urge to betterment. (17-568)

If you were entirely free from all emotional reactions, your clarity of mind and your ability to think clearly, would be enormously increased, with all that that involves. (673)

Everything that is of true spiritual value is persistent, ageless, immortal and eternal. Only that dies which is valueless. (684)

I seek to lay the foundation for a future structure of knowledge...I seek to generate in you also a wise and searching expectancy, which will use the little that I am able to impart and the symbolic words I may dictate and so prepare for a greater understanding later. (694)

We are on the verge of entering a new era in scientific unfoldment, owing to the discovery of how to release the energy of the atom. Not even the scientists responsible for the discovery have the faintest idea of the far-reaching effects of the momentous happening. (713)

    Everything has been said
    Nothing else to say
    as it continues
    to be said
    ......

letting go of whatever holding onto and focus within
it's a deeper and deeper each day
every time my best friend thing
    as we create a relationship
with being aware of what's happening
    within.

    Ego strong
     addictive, satisfying, stimulating
    a box of pandora.
but comes a time when one feels
that something is missing amidst all of the fulfilled desires
    of personal gratification and enjoyment
of having and doing it all
and still feeling something is missing
but not knowing what it is.

    A conscious recognition of having
a direct experience of the ultimate truth is what's missing.

(The Ultimate Truth = The Absolute = Oneness = God)

That Direct experience of Oneness within ones Self
    is enlightening

And after discovering this and with the knowledge
of how to tap into this Oneness every day
    through meditation?
Powerful Knowledge to use throughout life

    Learning, Loving, laughing
Listening to the Divine quiet voice within
being useful all the days of your life
Taking care of yourself and others
looking and presenting your best each and every day
    trusting the Divinity within
being in service to the Presence within
    being in service to Humanity
brings changes for your longevity, your happiness,
    your health, your joy.
    Your spiritual gifts,
    your Blessings, are already there
and are showered upon you when
you are in service to the common good
    and the oneness of life.
Your greatest potential is thusly found.

    Makes you wonder huh? haha
What does this have to do with Meditation?
    Nothing, just some interesting art.

    each god has many names,

― Paramahansa Yogananda, Autobiography of a Yogi
    .....

    “You may control a mad elephant;
    You may shut the mouth of the bear and the tiger;
    Ride the lion and play with the cobra;
    By alchemy you may learn your livelihood;
    You may wander through the universe incognito;
    Make vassals of the gods; be ever youthful;
    You may walk in water and live in fire;
But control of the mind is better and more difficult.”
― Paramahansa Yogananda, Autobiography of a Yogi
    .....

“Read a little. Meditate more. Think of God all the time.”
    ― Paramahansa Yogananda
    .....

    In the lamp of heart;
    Put the oil of dispassion,
    Insert the wick of devotion,
And kindle the light of knowledge,
    By constant meditation;
The darkness of ignorance will be
Dispelled and you will be fully illumined.

The Peace Prayer For World Peace

    Adorable Presence!
Thou Who art within and without, above and below and all around,
Thou Who art interpenetrating the very cells of our beings,
Thou Who art the Eye of our eyes, the Ear of our ears, the Heart of our hearts,
the Mind of our minds, the Breath of our breaths, the Life of our lives and the Soul of our souls,
Bless us, Dear God, to be aware of Thy Presence, now and here. This is all that we ask of Thee.

May all of us be aware of Thy Presence in the East and the West,
in the North and the South! May Peace and Goodwill abide among individuals
as well as communities and nations! This is our earnest Prayer.

    -Swami Omkar

    .....

    Anyway
People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centred. Love them anyway.

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway.

If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.

People favour underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for some underdogs anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.

People really need help but may attack you if you help them. Help people anyway.

Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.

Give the world the best you've got anyway.

    The Serenity Prayer
    God grant me
    the serenity
    to accept the things
    I cannot change,
    courage to change
    the things I can,
    and the wisdom
    to know the difference.

    - Reinhold Niebuhr.

    .....

    Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nature strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the tree and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy.

(Found in Old Saint Paul's church, Baltimore; Dated 1692)

"Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have."

    The Goal of Life
O man! The Goal of life is God-realisation.
God-realisation grants Supreme Joy, Peace and Fearlessness.
Most precious is human birth. Utilise this birth to attain God.
Life is short. Time is fleeting. Waste not time.
Engage in noble deeds. Be up and doing upon the path of Divine Life.

Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realise. Be good; do good.
Be kind; be compassionate. Practise non-injury, truth and purity.
This is the foundation of Yoga and Vedanta.
Adapt, adjust, accommodate. Bear insult; bear injury. Serve all.
Love all. Embrace all in the Oneness of the Spirit. This is Divine Life.

Enquire 'Who am I?' Know thy Self and be free.
Thou art not this body, not this mind. Thou art Immortal Self.
Thou art unborn, eternal, changeless, indestructible, ever-pure, all-perfect Spirit or Atman.
Realize this and be free. This is your foremost duty.
Do this through selflessness and service, devotion and worship,
purification, concentration and meditation. Attain God-realisation.
Do it now. Abide in Bliss, Peace and Perfection for ever.

    Awareness will increase when attachment
    begins to let go.
Attachment to anything and to everything...
    Awareness is emince when
    attachment is gone
For to be in the Presence, the present,
    beyond time and space
    beyond the mind,
    beyond the Ego
is to be free of attachment

    Free from that
that takes you away, separates you
    from the presence
    of the essence

Being in the presence of that which is your essence
is to be free of thought
free of that attachment to the thought
that separates you as your Ego,
    free of the attachment
to that of which you see yourself as a separate entity

Being in the oneness of the essence
is to be free of attachment to all of that
    and just to simply be
    without attachment.

    We want, we desire
with all of the experiences of life
that keep us engaged in the process of
    Attachment

     Its Simple

    just let go

let go of all of the things that separate you from your Self.

....Imagine... you are in a room full of sunshine
    from the window,
filling that room with that sunshine.
Now ...see that room and all of that sunshine all divided up
like pictured on a pie chart
and you are only getting a little slice of the pie
so your warmth and light of all that sunshine
has shrunk down to a slice a small portion
of the sunshine in that room.
instead of getting that whole room full of light and warmth
of the sun, you just experience a small part of it.
...Now imagine that all of those other slices in that pie
    are your attachments
all taking away all of that warmth and light of that sunshine
and leaving you only a small portion of experience of
    that room full of sunshine
    to experience....

    ...Get the point?

the sunshine of your heart lies within you

    we hold onto our attachments
because we don't have anything else to hold onto.
    Through meditation
we have something else to hold onto so to speak
    to be aware of...
and through that process more sunshine comes into our room
    filling our room with light
because the attachments are being loosened
and as each slice of that pie
    disappears
    as each attachment is loosened,
    and more light, more warmth,
    more understanding is experienced
    ...AND then??
    haha
you have the whole room full of light
    of course.

    12/29/17

    Imagine a pool of water
just off of the running water of the creek
Crystal clear, a beautiful reflective pool
You can see the bottom, the plants
moving in the rhythm of the stream...
perfect in movement and peaceful harmony...
...this can be, in this reference, our Mind when it is still
    and a pure reflection,
    As when in Meditation.

Now take a stick and stir it all up,
stir up the bottom until it is all muddy looking
and all kinds of bits and pieces of life
    are swirling around.
The crystal clear pool of water is gone
It is muddy and full of stuff floating around.
...This is our mind in it's normal
    everyday thinking state
    with all of our thoughts
    running all over the place.

    Meditation is essential
    to create your reflective pool

     2/10/18

    Attachment
    Strong stuff.
Imagine your Ego being a magnet.
If you take a hand held magnet and touch it to metal shavings
the metal shavings get attached to the magnet
instantly, strongly and that's it. They are there
and they do not let go because of the magnets power.
UNLESS of course the magnet is turned off.
When the magnet is turned off, the shavings fall off
and there are no attachments any more
similarly when the ego is transcended,
literally the ego is turned off
    and attachments fall away.
    When the attachments fall away
    we can see the Reality
    of what is really there

    4/5/18

This past Easter brought some awareness
to the resurrection of Christ for me.
Such a fantastic teaching He gave to us.
    Gone was the physical body
    then Yet He appeared manifesting
    a Spiritual body
for His Followers to see and understand.
Saying "What I have done you can also do"
He showed us directly that we are not the body
that we so much identify with.

    9/8/18

This knowledge that is presented here
is the most valuable in the whole of life.
Difficult as the path may be, it will become clear eventually
if not spontaneously, when one perseveres with Meditation
and a lifestyle of good human values.

It is a discovery of your self.
We are so used to having constant activity in the mind
that we never see that all of it is a veil
covering a deeper aspect of our being.
Perseverance, and the veil of illusion will dissipate

Attachment is what keeps all of the "stuff" around,
    Keeps the constant activity.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could be like
that electric magnet and as soon as we begin our meditation
turn the magnet off and all of the attachments fall away.
Perseverance and you will become the master.
Pull the veil away, still the mind, let the Ego dissolve
and one's greatest treasure is revealed.
When the Ego resurfaces, the veil is covering your treasure
once again, and is not seen.

You are the Master, the Teacher, the Buddha, the Christ
