What do you see when you look at this image?


 It's on a Christmas card I received last year. I still can't make sense of it.

    Two seals snuggling, the blue seal is reaching for the star and a seal angel is blessing their relationship. A blue whale is behind them and a blue man in a hat with a long nose.  There is a silhouette of a peacock sitting in the tree.  On the tree trunk is a solider, two people, below that a part of the tree has white eyes with its arms outstretched, a silhouette of a man and the top part of his body at the base.  The tree has its arms up praising God. I might see more if I look at it later.  I only see parts right now, nothing as a whole.

      Not one, but two, count them, two correct uses of the word “its”. I might consider eloping with this woman.

     Minneapolis appears to be the only place we cannot go to, unless of course you’re willing to campaign for me there and speak in my favor in convincing “someone” to have a change of heart.

    I like just seeing abstract images in the image and that works for me.


    Yet, perhaps - - I see the star as Baby Jesus,
                            the pale yellow figure to the left of star as Joseph, father of Jesus,
                            the blue figure  to the right of star as Mary, mother of Jesus
                            Joseph and Mary hold hands, supporting their child

                            and the three of them - - their influence on history and the world flows beyond them (the colors expand behind them to the tree) becoming larger and larger, giving meaning to life

    However long I stare at it, I can only see one of two things:

    1) A blonde woman in a long flowing robe or dress, holding up a lantern;

    2) A man with blue and grey hair, facing left, and with a tree growing out of his eye socket.

    I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's puzzled.
