Sad news from the music world. Tom Petty has died at the age of 66.

The Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers lead singer was removed from life support after tests revealed he had no brain function following a cardiac arrest.

The veteran star was resuscitated after he was found unconscious and in full cardiac arrest at his Malibu home on Sunday night.

Responding to a 911 call, emergency services found Petty not breathing but detected a pulse, and rushed him to a hospital in nearby Santa Monica.

Any thoughts, feelings, favorite songs?

You beat me to it....but that's okay. :)

It's shocking news, wasn't expecting to hear that today. Tom was a legend, so many great songs. Saddest part is he was so young, maybe he had an underlying condition he wasn't aware of. RIP.

My personal favorite is Mary Jane's last dance. I also like Refugee. And I won't back down.

This one makes me think of my wife.

It is shocking and really sad. My brother in-law worshipped him. Just saw him in concert recently. How life can change in the blink of an eye.  Thanks righty.  :-)

I like his beard in the photo you posted. Very heavy on the chin area. :)

It's very sad.  We have been losing so many great artists over the past couple of years. :-(   Righty mentioned all favs of mine.  This is a personal favorite too.

And, of course, I almost forget this one!  Probably one of my all time favs of his.

I'm glad you posted this, LyricalOne. I was saddened and shocked to hear of this today. That's a great image you chose to post in your question, too.
    :)

Though it's already been posted, I love "Free Fallin.'"
I'm going to post it again.

Tom Petty, a lot of us miss you already.
    R.I.P.

It was shocking, wasn't it? That pic is from a recent concert. I believe he'd just finished a tour. Very talented man.

I found myself sitting behind him on a flight outta Tampa in the mid-eighties. He had a guitar case as a carry on.
