I’m thrilled for a friend who was twice drafted by them (he went to college instead of signing the first time) and played for them from 1978-84.
I’m also happy because I bet $100 at +700 on them to win the World Series when they were trailing Houston in the previous round, so they brought me a sweet $700 profit.
I don't care much about any sports, to be honest. I used to root for the Yankees, but over the years, they've gotten sloppy and can't even get to the playoffs anymore. They get paid a fortune and spend more time on the injured list than on the playing field.
I did not even know the World Series was going on. So no really don't care that they won. If I were to root for a team it would be the St Louis Cardinals.
I didn't know the Series was even going on, either! I am not a huge sports fan abut I've always known when the World Series was going on -- no one seemed to talk about it at all, or report on it (well, in 'my' universe, I guess.)
EDIT: and a post of Element 99 somewhere on the site in recent weeks- - I remember him mentioning to root for Arizona Diamondbacks. Now I know to what he was referring.
